Move Patient Once!
Pullout plastic center strap allows the FLAT to break into two (2) pieces. The FLAT is then easily removed from underneath the patient’s sides – without moving the patient. Center strap is made of low-density polyethylene, which allows easy application and enables the strap to fold within the FLAT for storage.
Operation: Open BREAKAWAY FLAT on a flat surface. Depress spring-loaded button and slide knurled knobs over hinges until button releases. This will lock knobs into place. The FLAT is now ready for the patient. Place the patient on the FLAT with head at arrow indicating TOP. Secure patient to FLAT with straps. Patient is now ready for transport. NOTE: For safety, always lift heavy loads equally on all sides of the FLAT and do not exceed recommended weight capacity.
Removal: Place patient with BREAKAWAY FLAT on hospital gurney or other desired surface. Release all devices that secure patient to FLAT. At patient’s feet, grasp centerline strap (white plastic strap) by placing finger(s) through hole. Grasp tightly. Firmly pull strap from beneath patient and remove completely from FLAT. With second attendant at patient’s head, grasp frame tubes and pull horizontally away from patient’s sides. Remove FLAT completely from beneath patient.
Semi-Fowler’s Position (Head Elevated): Make sure knurled knobs are locked into place above hinges (toward arrow indicating TOP). For removal of FLAT from underneath patient, use previously indicated procedure.
Assembly: Lock knurled knobs in place securing FLAT hinges. Mate frame halves by sliding insert tubes into opposite frame members. Slide centerline strap through centerline loops. Store FLAT in preferred position.
Hinged Frame Assembly: Hinged frame assembly allows for tilting the FLAT in a Fowler’s position for ease in patient care as well as convenient carrying and storage of FLAT.
